Delchevo marked the anniversary of the birth of the patron Delchev

The Municipality of Delchevo marked the 149th anniversary of the birth of Goce Delchev, ideologue, organizer and leader of the Macedonian revolutionary liberation movement at the end of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century.

On that occasion, members of the KUD "Goce Delchev" prepared a report on the life and work of Goce Delchev, in front of the monument of Delchev in the city center, bowed and laid fresh flowers: delegation from the Municipality of Delchevo, representatives of the Council of the Municipality of Delchevo, representatives of institutions, political parties, citizens' associations.

Delchev was born on February 4, 1872 in Kilkis, in the family of Sultana and Nikola. He was educated at the high school in Thessaloniki and at the Military Academy in Sofia. He taught in Stip, and as a member of the Central Committee of TMORO he worked on creating a network of the Organization. After the assassination, his remains were kept in Banica until 1917, after which they were transferred to Xanthi and then to Sofia. Until 1923, the coffin with the bones was kept in the house of Mikhail Chakov. The remains of Delchev on October 11, 1946 were transferred to the church "St. Spas" in Skopje.

Otherwise, Mr.the work Delchevo bears the name of the great Delchevo from 1950 years, when with a Decision of the Presidium, the then Tsarevo Selo was renamed after the revolutionary Goce Delchev.
